What did make it into the dye pot...


...got a lovely rusty orange colour brewing up weeping cherry leaves ...
fabric left in overnight on top the fire place, keeping the just below simmering.
India's words tattooed in my brain "Time is your friend".




and a deep purply charcoal from the bark in a cast iron pot... dyed over night.
This became a really thick rich dye, i keep replentishing it and re-using it

I got the most insubstantial print from our cherry tree but I did not try making a brew. Have to wait a whole nuther year now!!!!. Glad to see your continuing to concoct.

much the best prints from most deciduous trees are achieved when the leaves are brown and manky and retrieved from the local gutter...
we had gorgeous results in Nelson recently from rotting windfall cherry, oak, liquidambar as well as nice stuff from red japanese maple and smokebush leaves

My dad gave me a big box of old rusty nails and screws, he thought it was so funny that i got so excited about it!
